Upper Elementary

"Children acquire knowledge through experience in the environment."

Our Upper Elementary program consists of grades 4 and 5.

In Upper Elementary, students continue to build on mathematics, language arts, and social emotional learning. Practice makes progress, keep going and keep growing. As material and work becomes more complex, children need champions in their lives to encourage their growth journey. Individual progress is the cornerstone of Upper Elementary and we meet each student where they are and grow them from there.

In our multi-age classrooms, students can lead, follow, and learn from one another while deepening their understanding and care of their work and their peers. With the freedom to move at their own pace, their mastery of soft and hard skills grows naturally. The constant collaboration and encouragement develops children who can cooperate with one another and solve problems together.

This is the age for deepening students’ understanding of how to make sense of the wider world and their place within it. Students are encouraged to explore and discover new ways to interact with one another and their environment. As their understanding grows, we offer guidance and direction as they mature and develop their moral sense, deepen their emotional intelligence, and broaden their social and cognitive skills.
