Ms Adair

Ms. Adair

Early Childhood
Ms. Adair is a Montesorri certified teacher who has been teaching for 32 years. She has a daughter and a son who have both grown up in Montessori classrooms. Ms. Adair strives to bring a love of learning, nature, and community to her students! She loves to see children's faces light up when they complete challenging tasks, create something they are proud of, or help their friends be successful! These are precious moments. Ms. Adair truly enjoys being a Montessori educator and feels blessed to be part of the Wellington Community!
Mr Itaya

Mr. Itaya

Upper Elementary
Mr. Itaya grew up on Whidbey Island and is an alumnus of The Wellington School. He is the lead teacher for middle elementary grades, 3rd through 5th. Mr. Itaya graduated from Central Washington University with a BS in Business Administration. He is currently completing a Masters in Teaching at the University of Washington. In addition to teaching, he serves as a member of the Air Force Reserve in Tacoma, WA. Passionate about teaching, he returned to Whidbey Island and joined the Wellington staff in 2022. Mr. Itaya loves to incorporate components of his many passions and interests into the curriculum he teaches. Chief among them are hiking and mountain climbing, skiing, and sailing.
Mrs Sullivan

Mrs. Sullivan

Lower Elementary
Mrs. Sullivan has been a teacher at Wellington for over 25 years and all 4 of her children have attended our school. Mrs. Sullivan graduated Cum Laude from Seattle University with a Bachelor's in Education. Her teaching major was Math and her teaching minor was Computer Science. Mrs. Sullivan is a Lyric Soprano and currently Soprano Soloist at St. Hubert Church in Langley. She is also Wellington's pianist for all programs and plays! Everyday, Mrs. Sullivan's class learns and practices kindness, gratitude and thankfulness; they also enjoy doing lots of arts and crafts together. Once students finish a craft, the elementery class writes a story about it. Mrs. Sullivan loves hiking in the woods and also building forts/fairy houses with her class. Mrs. Sullivan also leads South Whidbey's 6th grade Girl Scout Troop #42057.

Middle School
Mrs. Itaya - Mrs. Itaya founded The Wellington School in 1993. She is both the Director of the Wellington School and also teacher of Middle School Grades, 6th through 8th . Mrs. Itaya is a Montessori Certified teacher, who initially began teaching to provide Montessori education to her own children. Since then, she has taught at every grade level. Before moving to Whidbey Island, Mrs. Itaya was Director of Morningstar Montessori in Seattle, WA. Mrs. Itaya loves to incorporate her passions and interests into the subjects she teaches. Primarily these are: Plays, musicals, and social dance; drawing, painting and architectural designs; and of course, mathematics to infinity and beyond!
